Drainfield Installation

Drainfield and Leach Field Installation in Ocala

The drainfield is where treatment actually finishes, and it is the part that fails first when a system is undersized. Protostarengineering builds soil absorption fields using gravel trenches or plastic leaching chambers, sized directly from the measured perc rate. On the sandy soil common around Ocala and Belleview, a properly sized field disperses treated effluent through the ground without surfacing or backing up into the tank.

Why Sizing to the Perc Rate Matters

A drainfield only absorbs what the soil allows. If the perc rate is slow or the seasonal water table is high, the field needs more trench length or a different design entirely. We never size a field from a guess. The percolation test and soil profile give us the absorption rate, and that number, along with the four-foot separation to groundwater, drives the square footage the Marion County health department will permit.

Our Process

We confirm the perc results, lay out the laterals off a level distribution box so flow splits evenly, and set perforated Schedule 40 PVC in washed drainfield gravel or install gravelless chambers wrapped in geotextile fabric. For high water tables we build up an engineered mound instead. Every field is staked to the permitted plan and inspected before backfill.
